Marian Gimby, Teacher & President | ATA Magazine

It was an honour to learn about and draw Marian Gimby for the AB Teachers magazine’s 100th special issue. After being disciplined for speaking out about women’s rights in the Alberta Teacher’s Association leadership, she stood her ground, rallied like minds and in 1951, at the age of 48, she was elected as president of the ATA. She was the first woman president and kept fighting for equal representation throughout her career.
